Mental Health Certification

Mental Health First Aid is an evidence-based program that has been adopted by over 20 countries.  The training will teach you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illness and substance use disorders with coworkers, friends, family and community.  You will learn to assess for risk of suicide or harm, listen nonjudgmentally, give reassurance and information, encourage appropriate professional help, and encourage self-help and other support strategies. By the time the class is over, you will know about local mental health providers in Cuyahoga County to refer people to for treatment as well as numbers to contact in a crisis situation.
